FAQ
How long will you stay on the day?
The answer to this depends on what kind of photography package you choose.
I offer a reduced rate for shorter weddings (my mini-wedding package) compared to my full-day wedding packages.
Do you do group photos?
Although most of my photos are unposed, I always recommend having some couple portraits. Group photos are also available on request.
As I don’t want to take too much time out of your celebration I will take no more than about 20 minutes for any group shots – typically consisting of your bridal party, immediate family and parents.
It is helpful if you can nominate someone to round up your guests in sequence; this might be a groomsman, bridesmaid or another guest with a strong voice. Once we’ve captured a nice range of group portraits you can safely return to the canapés and fizz!
What type of events do you do?
I cover a range of different events although I specialise in weddings and engagement photo shoots.
I’m equally at home capturing traditional, religious wedding days as I am with shooting more alternative, humanist weddings. And I cover all types of weddings as I’m a believer in equality and diversity.
How do we book you for our wedding date?
You need to be comfortable with me, so I always encourage an informal coffee or chat on the phone or on Zoom first; an opportunity to see how well we get on as much as it is to talk about your day.
The next bit is totally up to you! Couples can reserve me for their wedding day up to 2 years in advance once they have paid the booking fee.
Is it worth having a 2nd photographer?
The short answer to this is – yes!
There are multiple good reasons to hire a second photographer to assist the primary photographer. You will be guaranteed a greater range of angles and more photos of the day. For example at the ceremony my assistant can photograph wider shots from the back of the venue whilst I take closer, more intimate images from the front.
A second photographer is another pair of eyes – they bring their own vision and they can grab lots of fun candids of the main party.
How will I receive my photos after the wedding?
After your big day, all the final images will have been individually edited by me and you will receive a private link to a preview gallery for sharing with friends and family within 3 days.
There is no upper limit on the number of final photos I will send you in your full gallery (usually delivered within 4 weeks of your wedding).
Are you insured - and do you have back-up?
Yes, and yes!
I am fully insured including comprehensive public liability insurance. I have multiple systems of back-up including spare cameras, memory cards and batteries which I bring to every wedding. Plus I use an external hard-drive and cloud storage for additional back-up of your photos.
In the (very unlikely) situation that I am unable to shoot your wedding due to illness or some form of emergency then I have a number of associate professional photographers who would be able to cover for my absence.
Can my guests take photos?
Yes absolutely, its your day!
However, it is definitely worth considering having an ‘unplugged wedding’ – where your guests are encouraged not to use any phones, tablets, cameras or any other electronic devices. There are multiple advantages of the unplugged approach:
-
- Your guests will be more engaged and less distracted
- They are more likely to clap as you leave the ceremony
- When you’re walking down the aisle you will see your friends and families’ faces, not the back of their iPhones!
- Your professional photos will look much better.
If you would like to have an unplugged wedding then mention this on your wedding invites, your order of service and other signage. And your officiant can remind people about this before the ceremony starts.
